Good Afternoon Everyone,
A sunny day here today at LPGC, hopefully making up for the shocking weather at the tail end of the Easter break, which put the course out of action for a few days. The good news is that all holes and greens are back in play and the forecast is good for the weekend!
For those of you who are playing this weekend, it looks like it will be a busy one, with The Burberry Cup and a Scratch Match on Saturday and Old vs. New members on Sunday. The course is still open to all non-competitors, although it may be wise to check there reservations before turning up.
Those of you who got out on Friday or Saturday last weekend certainly got the lions share of the sunshine. The Bank Holiday Roll Up was played on Saturday with a well supported field. Leading the way with 39 points was Dave Grannell who now finds his handicap chopped from 15 to 12.7. He was 4 points clear of John Barnes and Declan Lennox. Well played Dave.
A quick mention to Dave Brooks, fresh from his Red Cross Cup win was the only player to record a '2' in the Roll Up and wins over £80 on his Pro Shop Account, Nice work!
Pete and I played on Sunday against Terry Morgan and Dave Rouse. The new 9/10th's rule for better ball is certainly making things interesting, as Terry this week received 22 shots. He even told us on the 2nd tee his best round at Langley was 72 gross! Fortunately Pete and I dovetailed well. Wins at 3 and 4 and Captain Kilford hitting a rescue to 3" on the 5th saw us take a heathy 3up lead. Another win at 7 and 9 and 5up to the turn. With the weather looking ominous we fancied a couple of quick wins and an early bath, wrong........ 4/3 on 11 and 5/4 on 12 from Dave and 3/2 on 13 from Terry quickly too us back to 2up. A halve at 14 steadied the ship before 4/3 from Pete at 15 and 3 from me at 16 saw a 4/2 win.
A good game and even better company, made a good Sunday morning, despite the weather.
Shop Renovation and Swing Studio
I know you must be getting bored with my updates, but this should be one of the last ones, as the shop has now been completed and the studio is just about finished. All being well the simulator will be installed on Tuesday and should be ready for action towards the latter of next week.
I would like to say a massive thank you to Mark Pulford and his team who have worked tirelessly over the past few months to get the project finished in time for the start of the season.
I know I am biased but think it looks great.
In revieving the photos of the shop / studio renovation, one especially stood out and I thought it would make a great photo for this weeks Caption Competition.
Any printable captions to the usual address - paul.sherman@foremostgolf.com.
The winning caption will win a hours session on the new simulator, either in practice mode or playing a course - your choice.....
"Must be admiring the lights Mark......"
