Good Afternoon
It's newsletter time again, as another week flies by we are just about back to normal in the Pro Shop, I know I said I wouldn't bore you with it anymore but maybe a few more pics later on....
Lots to tell you about this week so let's get started, firstly new General Manager David Mabbott is now at the helm, David joins us from Eltham Warren and I'm sure you will all join me in welcoming him to Langley Park and wishing him all the best in his new role.
Well this week is officially the start of the golfing season with the US Masters getting underway at Augusta, personally it is always a very exciting week as I'm not a massive golf spectator, although if you are looking for me over the next few days, in front of the TV is the best place to find me ! My picks are Bubba Watson, Brant Snedeker and Justin Rose, let's see who comes out on top.
Langley Park sent a team over to Wimereux to play in La Cora, Steve Sharpe, Peter Battle, Richard Carter, Gary Williamson, Bernie De Souza, Homi Mehta, and Dave Peach played in a two event against 25 other teams and finished a very creditable 3rd - Well played!
Last weekend was a very busy one with several matches taking place, Saturday was the Burberry cup, which is LPGC v Juniors, a hotly contested 10 aside event this year, after 11 holes the first 3 matches were all square and the juniors we up in the other 2, at one stage it was looking as if a whitewash may be on the cards but the top match including Club Captain Peter Kilford and Junior Captain Calum Abbott ended all square, match 2 looked all over until a short putt slide by on 17 for the juniors and an outrageous 2 for Adam Roome saw another half snatched from the jaws of defeat, fortunately the final 3 games were under control and the juniors romped to a 4-1 victory.
Sunday saw the annual Old V New members match take place, a well supported 26 a side match. Once again a whitewash looked a possibility as the old members took the first 5 matches, only a strong tail end from the newbies winning the final 3 games prevented it, the result ended 5-3 to the old members.
Anne Greatorex and Holly Gray at Prince's GC representing Langley Park GC who won against Ali and Evie McGuirk 5&4 in the Lohan Trophy, good luck in your next match at Kings Hill.
