Good Afternoon

Nice to see a few mores faces this week after The Masters kick starts the golfing season, and what a good Masters it was to, those of you who went to bed after 9 holes thinking it was all over, the back 9 is available in catch up TV!

Danny WillettJordan Spieth was so odds on favourite as he entered the back 9 even my eyelids were telling me enough was enough but a couple of back to back bogies at 10 & 11 and a spectacular 7 at the par 3 12th set the competition alive again, even the world's best can duff it in the water from 60 yards, I never knew we had some much in common! This left the way for Danny Willett, who suddenly found himself 2 in front after being 5 behind thanks to his birdie at 16 and a solid par, par finish saw him crowned only the second English winner of the US Masters, enthralling stuff!

Junior news

Here at LPGC, we had a busy weekend of golf, with the juniors playing for the Junior Masters on Saturday and The LPGC Masters taking place on Sunday.

22 juniors teed up in Saturday afternoon, all trying to emulate swings they had seen from the night before, and as usual following a school holiday, the scoring was quite exceptional, in 3rd place with a very steady nett 68 was Ed Soars, in 2nd and surely must have thought he was home and dry was Mustafa Hassan with nett 63, but that was until Finlay Irvine romped in with a nett 57 to become the Junior Masters champion of 2016, he was presented with the trophy, the green jacket from last year's champion Oscar Beaman-Browne and a round of golf at Augusta on the simulator in the pro shop.

Great score Finlay, well played.

Competition news

On Sunday, 70 players turned out for The LPGC Masters, an individual stableford event, plus also a team event with each team drawing a player from Augusta to make up their 4th member and that players final round score from Augusta would be added to the team to determine the team prize. Glorious weather shone on everyone for what must have felt like the first time in ages, but with the yellow tees moving back to the main boxes for the first time this season, the course played as tough as ever.

In third place, the defending champion Sarah Graf with 35 points, even a hole in one on the 18th couldn't quite help her defend her title, she was pipped on countback by Paul Taylor also on 35 points who finished second, and this year's LPGC Masters Champion with a score of 36 points was (this isn't a typo) Darren Field......I can imagine the presentation ceremony was a quiet affair!

Caption competition

Last week's caption competition got a great response, some of the entries were:

- I must be able to get a free drop from here.

- Come on Sparky, have you tried switching it off and on

- this the craziest game of snakes and ladders ever, only one ladder but loads of snakes!

- Do I get relief from here? How many Cowboys does it take to change a light bulb?

But this week's winner, goes to John Sowden for - is that another Langley lie?! John wins an hour's session on the simulator, either for practice session or playing a course, and has an expiry date of April 30th, 2016....... Only kidding John, get well soon and see you when you're up and about.

All printable captions here please.
