Good afternoon everyone,
Certainly a week of sunshine and showers ! Fortunately mostly sunshine except for rainy Tuesday again for the ladies!
Lots of golf being played as last weekend was Captains Weekend, Saturday was Captains Day, a full field of over 150 players supported the day, fortunately the forecast improved as the event got closer and a dry, warm and almost sunny day appeared on Saturday morning.
Playing in the usual stableford format, with hole in one prizes on every par 3, and friendly white tee and pin positions (well mostly) the scores soon started to come in under par and the results were as follows:
n/p 5th J Newton - Under Armour shirt
n/p 10th J Rowlinson - Under Armour shirt
n/p 13th D Lennox - Under Armour shirt
n/p 18th C M Bowry - under amour shirt
L/D 3rd G Tommy - Under Armour shirt
L/D 14th D Butler - Under Armour shirt
1st D Gardner 39 - Callaway Driver
2nd J Hoare 39 - Sun Mountain waterproof bag
3rd S Smales 38. - ECCO shoes
4th P Cook 37. -FootJoy top
Putting comp winner - Freddie Goodliffe
Ladies Results
The lady members of Langley Park come across some very unfortunate weather on Tuesday at Langley park. Participating in the 36 hole Goodhart Bowl the morning round remained dry, however ever the afternoon round had to be cancelled after a prolonged thunder storm ruined another ladies event. In Division 1 Pam Smith led the way with 94 nett 74 followed by Sarah Graf on 88 nett 74 with Angela Darby 2 shots back on nett 76. Division 2 was led by Debbie Pestell with nett 73, beating Kiran Bowry on countback with Mary Forrest a further shot back on nett 74.
Captains Mixed Foursomes
David Lennox and Clare Ross Won the Captains Mixed foursome on a sunny Sunday afternoon with a very impressive 36 points, they were one clear of Brian and Pamela Smith on 35.
On Sunday morning (after a long captains day evening) Pete and I took on Paul Taylor and Mike O Hare, an 8.30 bleary eyed start can go one of two ways either great as you have no feeling in your body and play without thinking or dreadful as nothing works in sync, fortunately it was great for me and Pete and the later for Paul and Mike! 4 pars and a birdie at 5 saw us take a commanding lead with wins at 8 and 9 saw us cross the road 5up, halves at 12/13 and 14 saw the contest stopped and a 5/4 win to the now sober Captain and Pro!
Hole in one
2 days after Captains Day and all the hole in one prizes that were on offer, Alan Kershaw scored a hole in one on the 10th playing a friendly on Monday morning!
