Good afternoon everyone,
Its US Open Week this week at Oakmont, and after seeing some of the practice footage it looks like it is going to be a tough as ever - I think the winning score will once again be over par, Angel Cabrera won with +7 last time it was there!
Junior Captains Prize
Sam Beadle took the top spot in last Sunday, he narrowly pipped Finlay Irvine into 2nd place on countback, with Will Day in 3rd place.
In the higher handicap division 29+ Boys 37+ girls, 10 year old Amy Tree led the way in style finishing off with a gross 2 at the 18th, her tee shot finishing 2" from the cup, so close to hole in one!
Peter and I took on Past Captains Alan Pestell and Alan Brooks on a very damp Sunday morning. We were off to a quicker start than usual with Pete winning the 1st, me the 2nd and as we were the only side to finish the 3rd we were quickly 3up.
Alan P won 4th with nett 3 and Alan B the 5th with 3 before a nice run of holes for us saw birdies from me at 7, 8, and 10 and we crossed the road 5up and surely out of sight, so we thought !
Wins at 12, 13, 15, and 17 and all of a sudden we were only 1up and we hadn't even dropped a shot, fortunately a 3 at the last was good enough for a 1up win - still unbeaten over 18 holes Captain !
Once again rainy Tuesday arrived for the Ladies Decima Wells Strokeplay, 23 ladies took to the course, but once again the heavens opened, but that wasn't enough to put Josee Gray off as she beat Lita Landi on count back with nett 77, one ahead of Kelly Woolgar on nett 78.
I played 2 Pro ams last week, first at Woodcote Park with Ian Betts and 2 guests, team wise we managed -5 to finish middle of the field, but a 68 -2 from myself was good enough for 3rd, my second outing was to Surbiton, where my team had a fantastic -17 to finish 3rd on countback, I again shot 68 -2 for a share of 4th place.
Nick played in The PGA Golf College Challenge at Linfield, he shot 70 (+2) 73 (+5) to finish in 18th place and his first cheque of the year, Max Jordan also played as one of the college students and returned scores of 70 & 71 for 15th - no cheque for Max though!
