Good afternoon from a very damp Langley Park, extremely heavy overnight rain with thunder storms has closed the course today (Thursday) fingers crossed for the next few days, I'm sure summer is due to start soon……………
June Stroke
Last Sunday saw the June stroke played, with the course in exceptional condition, although perhaps playing a little longer than normal for the time of year. Not that it seemed to matter to Adrian Murray who smashed it round in 77, nett 65. Adrian was one clear of Mark Haffenden who, playing off scratch, scored gross and nett 66, great playing Mark. Mark was 3 clear of 3rd place Les Clarke with nett 69.
In division 2, Alan Peck took top spot with nett 71, he was 2 clear of Chris Underwood and Gary Pestill, both scoring nett 73.
There were eleven 2's, each worth £22.54 which has been added to your Pro Shop accounts.
The Gray Cup
In the interclub knock out competitions we have only remained in The Gray Cup, which is managed by Bernie De Souza. This week we were drawn at home against Wrotham Heath.
A fantastic result for LPGC saw the home team win 7 matches to 1, with notable wins from: Kieran Vincent 8/7, John Wenn 7/6, Paul Chandler 6/5, Daz Field 6/4, Paul Goodliffe 4/3, Mike Manders and Paul Taylor 1up. Well played team, who's next for a thrashing?

Langley Park Pro Am
Last Friday we held our PGA Pro Am event, 26 teams played in a shotgun start, with the 2 best nett scores on each hole to count, plus the pro keeping an individual score too.
In The Pro Individual, Andy Raitt, from St Georges Hill, recorded a new professional course record with 66, he was closely followed by Tim Milford (Pedham), Scott Stevens (Staplehurst), and Bob Cameron (Sundridge Pk), all on on 67. Yours truly followed on 69 and Nick on 70.
In the Team event, the team of Peter Kilford, Daz Field, Rob Norris, and myself, scored -15 to narrowly edge out Andy Craig, Garry Appleford, Steve Butler and Nick Stewart on -14. Third place went to some of my old friends from Ashford, Gavin Feaver, Martin Howard, and Shayne Kingham, with professional Richard Wallis, also -14.
Anyone who would like a digital copy of their team photo or individual swing please email me here, or at paul.sherman@foremostgolf.com, and I will send them to you.
The Lombard Trophy Pro Am
You may remember a few months ago the April Stroke Winner qualified to play with me in The National Pro Am at Walton Heath, the winners of this event then qualify to play in the national final at Vila Sol in Portugal.
This year's winner Ray Behan, and myself, teed off at Walton Heath Old course on Wednesday at 8.30 in a field of 60 + pairs. We were off to a slow but steady level par start, until Ray chipped in on the 4th for a birdie, nett eagle! We dropped one at 6 before I made a birdie two on the 7th and Rays par, nett birdie, on the 9th saw us out in a respectable -3. I then missed chances at the 11th and 12th, both for birdie, before eventually making one at 14 but realistically needed 2 or 3 more in the last 4 holes. I made birdie at 16 but ray went one better with birdie, nett eagle, again. We were now -6 with two to play. A par at 17 followed, and I hit 2 great shots into 18, only to lip out from 6 feet for 66 -6.
We led for 2 thirds of the day until we were joined by 3 other teams on -6, after a card countback we lost by one shot…….that six footer isn't bothering me much!
