Good afternoon all,
November has arrived but fortunately the sun continues to shine and with the rain staying away the course is certainly in great shape as we enter the winter.
There are still a few results to report starting with a the Winter mixed foursome knockout, Peter Killick and Sabrah Miller played Dave Brooks and Cheryl Power, in a very close match Peter and Sarah eventually came out this year's winners with a 2&1 victory.
The ladies were out on Tuesday for their monthly stableford, some great scores were returned with Josee Gray a clear leader in division 1 with 44 points, 9 clear of lady captain Angela Darby and Sue Williams on 35, division 2 saw Ros Cox take the top spot with 36 on count back from Clare Cordeschi with Mari Brooks a further point back, division 3 was led by Sharon Ahmad with 40 points, one clear of Catherine Loddo and Joan Pollard in 3rd place with 34.
The Vets team took on the Ancient Britons last Monday. This is an annual match and marks the end of the 'official' matches against other clubs with a friendly (really?) followed by lunch. This year was a 10 pair match which was, in general, closely fought apart from the 7 and 6 drubbing of one of the League team pairings. For the first time anyone can remember the A/B's won by 51/2 to 41/2. A notable victory and from the comments received the A/B's played wonderfully well and deserved their victory.
Captain Andy Craig and I played our first Captain/Pro match on Sunday, since his drive in we have been looking at Andy's swing to find out where that high draw came from, and bizarrely 90% of his shots are now from right to left, anyway last weekend we played Mark Pulford and Ed McCoy on a foggy Sunday morning, a tight match ensued with Andy keeping us in the match for the first 7 holes, we managed to steal a couple of holes before we crossed the road to be 2up, a 3 at 13 took us 3 up, Mark and Ed won 15 but a 4 at 16 was good enough to record our first win of the campaign 3&2.
Well played Captain....
