Good afternoon all

Studio news

It definitely been a better week weather wise after a deluge of rain last week, normal service has now been resumed, but if the cold weather or the dark evenings are getting too much for you I may have a solution.....The Pebble Beach 9 hole challenge, from now until the end of December, I am hosting a 9 hole stableford competition in the swing studio, there is no limit to the amount of times you enter, you can play on your own or in 2, 3 or 4ball, just book your time to play on the front 9 at Pebble Beach, £5 per person, per round to enter, winner takes all, the prize will depend on the amount of entries, I will publish the leaderboard each week on here, just call the shop or email me at Paul.sherman@foremostgolf.com

Pros news

As I reported last week, myself, Peter Kilford, Daz Field, and Phil McBrown, were midway through the Algarve Pro Am, the final round was played at Quinta do Lago south, a good round may have hoisted us up onto the podium but would also need other teams to have a shocker, we posted a respectable -11 on day 3 for a -31 total, unfortunately it was only good enough for 4th spot, but a very enjoyable week all the same.

This week Peter Battle, John Sowden, and George Perry are playing in the same event with seniors professional Mark Belsham, they posted rounds of -10 (Laranjal) -1 Monte Rei, -12 Quinta south for a -23 total to also finish 4th, it must have been harder this week?!

Last Sunday Andy and I played Phillip Littlewood and John Webb in Captain/Pro, with Phillip getting 12 shots and John 18, this could be tricky, sure enough a nett 3, nett 4, nett 3 start from John quickly saw them 3up and we feared a hiding was on its way, fortunately a fine run of holes from Andy saw us turn 1up, we crossed the road 3up, 12 went their way, I holed my only putt of the day, the length of 13th green to go back to 3, Andy birdied 14 and I birdied 15 to close it out 5&3.

Success story

Also on Sunday you may have heard a loud cheer, this was when Gordon Hayward holed in one at the 10th in a very unfriendly friendly match with Mick Joslyn v Ian Baker and Joe Rowlinson, Ian and Joe were 1up with 2 to play, Joe puts his tee shot on the 10th to 3 feet, Gordon then holes his tee shot to square the match and go 8 bits up, they then lose the 11th to lose the game and a whopping 20p, the 2nd cheer you may have heard was when Gordon got his bar bill ! Well done Gordon, congratulations.

Ladies news

Congratulations to Cheryl Power who was elected Vice Captain for Kent Ladies Golf at their AGM, the best of luck in your 4 year term Cheryl, enjoy. The ladies were out this week for a turkey trot on Tuesday, but looking at the scores there were not many turkeys playing as Chitra Prasha led the way in Div 1 with 37, closely followed by The Kent Ladies Vice Captain with 36, with Sue Tester a further point back, Division 2 was topped by Kim Shead also with 37, with Diana Roberts and Pauline Emburey runners up with 32, but the leading score of the day came from div 3 as Maggie Page scored a very impressive 38 points, one clear of Joan Pollard

Upcoming events

On Friday 30th December we will be holding a shotgun Texas Scramble event during the Christmas holidays, teams of 4 of any combination an eligible membership category. £30 per team, teeing off at 8.30. The list will go on the board shortly so keep your eyes peeled as it is limited to 25 teams and has been oversubscribed for the last 2 years.
