Good afternoon everyone,
Happy New Year to you all, I hope you all had a good festive break, although with the weather being so kind we have seen a lot of you at the club over the Christmas period, which has been great to see, the course has been remarkably dry and has been in a very playable condition.
During the Christmas break we held a Texas Scramble event on Thursday 29th December, a fantastic turnout of 104 players played on a bright, sunny, although a little frosty morning for a 9am shotgun start.
Jackie very kindly opened the kitchen early for those who hadn't eaten enough over the previous few days and we served coffee and brandy(and the odd shot of tequila) outside the shop for the players as they passed by, even with the frosty conditions, the scoring seemed to be going well, and roughly 4 hours later the cards started to arrive back in the clubhouse, the team of Butler, Appleford, Peck, and Whitfield were the long-time clubhouse leaders with nett 59.2, closely followed by the team of Pulford, McCoy, McCoy, Gough on 59.3 that was until Team Williams, Hickman, Jordan, and Mackie returned a great score of 55.1, which after a recount turned into 56.1 but still a great score which contained a run of birdies from the 12th to the 3rd (10 in a row) and a score which wouldn't be beaten.

Well done to all those that played and made it a great day, the next team event is booked in for Sunday 5th February, the format will be a Shotgun Stableford off full handicap, with 2 scores required on index 1-6, 3 scores on index 7-12 and all scores on index 13-18. The entry sheet is on the main noticeboard now and is filling up fast!
The Pebble Beach Challenge Over the past 2 months, we have held a 9 hole challenge over the front 9 holes at Pebble Beach, playing stableford on the simulator in the swing room, it was £5 to enter with the winner taking all the entry fees.
Niall Higgins was the early leader with 17 points, Max Jordan then took over with 20, he was then beaten by Simon Hurry with 21, Stuart Williams then scored what seemed an unbeatable 22, only to be matched by Ben Cleave and a playoff was looking on the cards until 2 days before closing date, Daz Field was at a loose end after being stood up by his mate and spent the afternoon in the shop, this culminated in his scoring 24 points over the US Open course and winning the pot!
Daz won a voucher for the shop and treated himself to a Bushnell Rangefinder.......
Look out for the next challenge, it won't be long.........
