Greetings from Paul Sherman
Langley Park Golf Club - PGA Golf Professional

Good afternoon all,

If you have been playing golf this week, you will have noticed two things; firstly it has constantly been raining, so much so that the natural duck pond behind the 18th reappeared!

Secondly and far more upsetting is the damage to the 3rd green. I know I said damage, but to be honest it's mindless vandalism, which after all the hard work Chris and his team have done, it must drive them to despair.

Fortunately the weather is on our side and with some sunshine, the damage should soon be on the mend.

Ladies Bradley Cooke match

The ladies also played Royal Blackheath in the Bradley Cooke competition, when was a very convincing 4-1 win for Langley park, it was especially nice to see Cheryl Power using her course management skills on the 12th.

Cheryl realised she couldn't make the carry over the water so very skillfully laid up between the pond and the ditch! She later informed me she managed a half on that hole on her way to a 6&5 victory.

May Stroke/EGU Qualifier

Mixed News

Each year a mixed match is played home and away v Sundridge Park, 12 pairs played at Langley 16th May with Langley coming out convincing 9-3 winners, the away team were very complimentary about the course, stating it was the best condition they had seen it in for many a year, the return match is to be played on 16th August.

Why it might be time for a spot of shoe shopping

Last week we talked about power transfer, something you will find uncomfortable if your shoes don't fit correctly. Research suggests a significant number of you aren't playing in the right size shoe which can only have a negative impact on your golf. Then there's the pain...

No more faffing! Choose the right trolley bag

Last week we took a look at some fantastic new lightweight carry bags on the market. For those 36-hole days, however, a trolley bag may be a better option. Be careful though, for trolley bags are like referees - you only notice the bad ones. Thankfully, we have some super options in our shop...
