Good afternoon all,
The frosty weather seems to have disappeared for a while, but as soon as it warms up, the rain appears very quickly! This, however, has helped the green staff who have been able to verti-drain some of the fairways and now the ground has softened a little.
With the help of Ian Jordan, the new drainage work has been able to be carried out on the 11th, hopefully this will help the area of the course which seems to struggle the most.
On Tuesday, the ladies placed their annual Australian Spoons/Foursomes event, the top three places were all decided on countback, and leading the way with 29 points was Vicky Mitchell and Alison Dunkley, in second place finished Pryia Bhatia and Catherine Loddo, with Josee Gray and Mary Forrest finishing in third spot.
Captain/Pro
Fresh off his Caribbean break, Andy and I played Simon Mason and John Flesher on Sunday, 22 January, on a very white, frosty day, distance certainly wasn't a problem, getting it to stop was a lot harder to do. A couple of friendly halves to start before we slipped one behind on the third hole, johns 4/3 took them two up after four. We sneaked the fifth hole to claw one back, but after a few halves and a holed putt from off the green from Simon 'no luck' Mason we turned two down, wins at 10 and 11 saw us cross the road all square, but with 12, 13 and 15 all going the opponents way, it didn't look good, even with a win at 16, Simon's 4/3 at 17 saw them 3/1 winners, well played gents.
Note to self, don't play in the frost!
Shotgun Stableford
For those of you playing in the shotgun event on Sunday, the draw for tees is on the board. Breakfast will be available for those who need sustenance before play from 7.30am.
I will be in the clubhouse (NOT THE PRO SHOP) taking payment and handing out the cards, please arrive in good time for the 9.00am start as we have a full field and would like to get you all off on time.
