Its Masters Week folks, one of the greatest shows on grass! And what's even more exciting is one of our own members actually played Augusta on Sunday!! 

Alan Pestell played on Sunday with 1973 champion Tommy Aaron and they were joined by European Ryder Cup star Matt Fitzpatrick for the front 9! 

What an experience. Alan managed to shoot 92, playing of the same tees as the world's best will be this week, I'm not at all jealous…….much!!

Augusta hole challenge 

There is only a few days left to enter the Augusta Challenge around the most famous back 9 in the world, there is still a tie between Mark Pulford and Alfie Hickman on 22 points, come and see if you can knock them off the top spot, you have until Sunday afternoon to do so or it will be a playoff - a short one I imagine!!




April Stroke/Lombard Qualifier 

A big field turned out for The April Stroke, the winner also qualifies to play with me at Walton Heath in The Lombard national Pro Am qualifier. 

Once again there were some fantastic scores with James Smith clearly finding the greens to his liking this week with a fine nett 68 to lead Division One by one shot from Andy Moore and Niall Higgins, but in Division Two, with a fine nett 64 was Graham Illife, he beat Paul Fitzgerald into 2nd place on nett 70. 

A quick mention to 'Team Yonex' John Webb, Jon Barnes and Ian Russell, all with recently purchased Yonex clubs finishing 3rd and tied fourth in Division Two! 

The Ladies played their April Medal/Rita Edwardes Cup, Kelly Woolgar led the way in Division One with nett 73, beating Tereza Russo on countback with Chitra Prashar in 3rd place on nett 74, Division Two honours went to Maureen Lacy also on nett 73, she pipped Monica Whelan into 2nd and Jill Salway into 3rd with nett 74 and 75 respectively. 

The Burberry Cup was also played last weekend, this is an annual match between the club and the juniors, both sides very keen to win, but as per the last few years, the juniors continue to be the stronger outfit, and beat the club 4 matches to 2.
