Good afternoon everyone,
I think all these ice bucket challenges have had an effect on the weather, so far this month we have had 94.2 mm of rain which is 37.8 mm above the August average! Let's hope for a dry September and October!
In this week's issue; results from the Mixed Open, the Bank Holiday Roll Up, the Ladies Past Captains Trophy, the Littlehailes Platter, the Scratch League and a distressing result in the PGA Captain/Pro Championship!
Bank Holiday Roll Up
A large field of 30 players rolled up for the last bank holiday for August, some great scoring with the following results:
A Hickman 40 points
S Hurry 37 points
A (Mexican) Simmons 36 points
Littlehailes Platter
A close run contest in this family foursomes event, with the following results:
S Butler & D Butler 37 points
C Day & W Day 35 points
R Packham & G Packham 35 points
Scratch League
LPGC entertained Rochester & Cobham last Sunday, a win for Langley would secure the league title. The opening foursome went to R&C, S Williams & J Cakebread then won 5&3 followed by M. Hervey & B Church also winning by the same margin to give Langley a 2-1 lead, G Mullins lost on the 18th to F Price, so the match levelled, wins for M Jordan and M Haffenden and a half for T Jordan saw the home side take the match and the league!
Congratulations to all who participated in the league matches throughout the season, a job well done.
Mixed Results

Lots of praise for the course and catering - so a good day all round.

Golfplan Captain/Pro championship
This is a nationwide event that has 12 qualifying events with roughly 60 pairs at each venue, the winners of each event then play in the grand Final on The Sultan Course, Antalya, Turkey, courtesy of Golfplan Golf insurance.
With Geoff unable to play, myself and Alan Pestell played at The Addington on Tuesday and were first out at 7.30, we got off to a slow start and even slower once the torrential rain appeared, after 10 holes we were level par when play was suspended for 2 hours as the course became flooded.
With 2 hours to kill, Alan thought Guinness and bacon sandwiches were in order. Clearly he was right as when play resumed, we both birdied 11, both birdied 12, I birdied 14, Alan made nett birdie at 15, I then eagled 16, we parred the last 2 to come home in 29 and finish on -6! This was leading by 6 shots with 1/3 of the field in the clubhouse, as the rain subsided scoring started to improve, still we led by 2 until Channels Golf Club came in late in the day with -7 followed by Royal Ascot and we were pushed back into 3rd place!!
I'm sure Alan was delighted with his Golfplan laptop bag (he doesn't even own a laptop!) instead of a trip to Turkey! Close but no cigar, aaaggghhh!
