Littlehailes Platter
On Sunday, the Littlehailes Platter was contested which is an annual event where two relatives from different generations play as a team in a foursomes stableford format.
A well supported field for this year’s event with 20 pairs taking part saw Michael Barratt playing with his son Jonny take top spot with a total of 39 points. In second place on 37 was Danny Wadley playing with his son Max.

Club Championship
Congratulations to Mark Haffenden who is the 2018 Club Champion beating Alfie Hickman, I’m not sure of the exact score, although I didn’t see them play the 15th. |
New arrivals
Although the sun continues to shine, and I am not wishing it away anytime soon, temperatures are starting to drop, so with that in mind, the new arrival of Autumn/Winter stock is arriving on the shelves.
Some fantastic new products have been released by Under Armour, FootJoy in the men’s range and 'Swing Out Sister' and Backtee for the ladies.

Try a Garmin GPS for FREE Golf's a game where you need to utilise all the help you're given. One specific way that has seen a huge boom in recent years is the use of GPS devices, which are particularly useful when it comes to knowing distances to the front, middle and back of greens, as well as hazards and doglegs. Throughout September, we're giving you the chance to 'Try Before you Buy' on selected Garmin devices, including the Approach S20 watch. What do you have to lose? |

Titleist Speed Project arriving soon As the name suggests, Titleist's new metalwoods are all about speed and distance. If you're an avid watcher of golf on TV, you may have seen some of the world's best golfers - Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth and Adam Scott to name a few - using the new TS woods from Titleist over the past few months. Well, we're delighted to announce they'll be landing in-store this month so that you can add some distance to your game. If you want to be one of the first to try them, get in touch via the button below. |

[* END *] Captain/Pro This week, the challengers were Dave Rouse and Ian Russell, and for the first time this year, I had a past Captain in the form of Alan Brooks as Captain Phil McBrown had completed his charity bike ride the previous day and was unable to play.
The match got off to a great start as Alan appeared with bacon rolls on the first tee, definitely getting off on the right foot. We halved the first and then lost the second to an Ian Russell birdie (as you do off 17!). Alan’s 5/4 at the third squared the game, but more importantly on the fourth tee, out of Alan’s bag came the champagne (with Mari’s crystal glasses!)
|
We then won the 4th and the 5th to go 2up, not for long though as we lost the 6th, 8th, 9th, 10th, to be two down. A birdie saw us one down as we crossed the road, only to find another bottle of fizz waiting for us on the 12th tee courtesy of Ian Russell, and more food as Kelly had made half way sausage sandwiches! All the food and drink were having a negative effect on our opponents, as wins at 13, 14 and 15 saw us two up, once again not for long as Dave Rouse appeared after a 15-hole sabbatical to win the hole and also the 17th to send the match all square down the last.
Alan and I both hit the green, Ian at the front of the green and Dave in the right bunker, Ian left his four feet short, Dave failed to get up and down and both Alan and I made a three. So, it was all down to Ian, who to this point had only dropped six shots (off 17 handicap) his putt grazed the hole side and stayed out to give us a 1up victory.
Thank you, gents, for a thoroughly entertaining Sunday morning, and Bernie, take note of the on-course refreshments.

Sightlines on putters might seem like a nice design, but they are there for a reason as they help you aim your putts more accurately, and help you centre the ball on your putter. But with so many different styles, it can be hard to know which one will aid you the most. |
It’s up to you Odyssey’s Red Ball putter features some of the most sophisticated alignment technology on the market. The innovative Red Ball in the scope of the putter allows you to consistently get into the correct set-up position over the ball. Add Odyssey's Versa high contrast technology that helps you align the putter better, and this putter is going to be very helpful for a lot of golfers.

|
Something different Alternatively, you might be a fan of Odyssey's O-Works Marxman Red putter, which is also available in a black finish. If you have alignment issues with your putting then this model has been designed specifically for golfers like you, with a full-length alignment aid extending right to the back edge of the putter for improved performance. |
