Club news

Club vs Artisans

Congratulations to the club who beat the artisans 6.5-4.5 in the annual match that was played on Sunday. The Club Captain, Bernie De Souza, is pictured holding the trophy.

Ladies vs Juniors

On Wednesday the ladies played against the juniors in their annual match. The juniors were triumphant 3-0. Well done to all that were involved.

Congratulations to Brian England who got a hole in one on the 10th on Saturday.

Ladies Stableford

On Sunday, a few ladies played in the ladies stableford. Over division 1 and division 2, here are the results:

Division 1
1st - Pamela Smith = 32 points, 2nd - Lesley Compton = 31 points

Division 2
1st - Jacqueline Darby = 27 points, 2nd - Tina Gardner = 26 points

On Tuesday, the ladies played another stableford event. Again over division 1 and division 2, below are the results:

Division 1
1st - Manuelita Landi = 41 points, 2nd - Angela Darby = 36 points, 3rd - Kim Wildman = 35 points

Division 2
1st - Sharon Jagger = 33 points, 2nd - Barbara Malangone = 33 points, 3rd - Roz Galley = 31 points

Pro's news

Wildernesse Pro-Am

The last Pro-Am event of the season was played last week at Wildernesse, my team of Paul Taylor, Adam Roome and Gary Westbrook looked very good on paper, if only golf was played on paper!

We were off to a lively start, with me holing from off the green and Paul making an outrageous up and down to be -2 after one hole. Adam then holed from off the green at the second and we moved to -3, this is where we stalled! Adam disappeared for quite some time, and when he did reappear it wasn’t very impressive to say the least, you can always tell when players are struggling when you can hear their drives land!

We eventually managed -8 as a team, with my individual score of 73, but unfortunately not in the prizes, thankfully Paul Taylor turned up and Gary made an appearance on the 2nd nine! The less said about Roomey the better!

Go the distance

We've all been there - around 75 yards out and faced with a tricky little pitch shot towards a tight pin; danger over the back and a tier just before the flag that will take anything short down to the front edge.
