Welcome to another edition of our newsletter, in this week’s mail we review recent competitions including Beaujolais Day, Danny Willet returns to the winner’s circle, and Garmin have a great offer this Christmas. Enjoy the read!

Competition news

Beaujolais Day

Last Thursday, we held a Beaujolais golf day with a dinner afterwards. Everyone had a great day and the winners were Paul Taylor, Gary Westbrook and Darren Field with 81 points.

In second place were Robin Graf, Andy Dickson and James Doswell on 80 points followed by Sally Meighan, David Meighan and Nick Lang who lost out on countback on 80 points. Here are the winners with Club Captain Bernie De Souza.

November Midweek Stableford

Due to the Beaujolais taking place last Thursday, the midweek stableford was re-scheduled for Friday. Played off the white tees, Niall Higgins continued some good form with a score of 34 points which won on countback from Paul Delany, Stuart Williams came 3rd with 33 points.

Ladies Turkey Trot

On a very cold and wet day, well done to all the ladies that stayed out there and completed their rounds on Tuesday. Congratulations to Sarah Graf who’s score of 33 points won the day. In second place was Pamela Smith with 31 points and in third place was Lesley Compton with 30 points.

The will to win

It was a huge moment for Danny Willett over the weekend, as the 2016 Masters Champion returned to the winners' circle after a two-year hiatus. The Englishman – who had fallen outside the top 450 in the World Rankings earlier this year – carded a final round of 68 to win the season-ending DP World Tour Championship in Dubai. It marks a remarkable return to form for Willett, and will no doubt give him a huge confidence boost going into 2019.

Fellow Englishman Tommy Fleetwood needed to secure victory to have any chance of overhauling his close friend Francesco Molinari at the top of the Race to Dubai standings. As a result, the Italian was confirmed as Europe’s number one golfer, capping off a truly memorable season with two tournament wins (including The Open Championship) and a record-breaking Ryder Cup performance in Paris.

New balls, please

Sometimes we can overlook the small details. Take your golf ball for example; you might be getting by on picking any old ball from your bag, but have you ever wondered just how much of a difference a brand new golf ball will make to your overall performance?
