Captain & Pro Challenge
After a couple of weeks off due to club events, Bernie and I took up the challenge from Mark Pulford and Dominic d’Iverno on Sunday, with the losers footing the lunch bill.
The game was very nip and tuck from the start, although Bernie and I took a narrow 1up lead early on. This soon got cancelled out as Mark made a nett par at the 4th via the 8th green and then a nett 2 at the 5th from somewhere near the 7th green! Wins at 6 and 7 saw us regain the lead and turn in 1up. Bernie’s 3/2 at 10th and 5/4 at 11 saw us 3up across the road, a 5/4 and another 3/2 at the 12th and 13th took us into a very quick 5up lead. A 5 was good enough at the 14th to seal a 6&5 victory, which was then followed by a very nice lunch courtesy of Mark and Dom, I’m glad I had Monday off!
Royal Cinque Ports Pro-Am I played in the last PGA event of the year at Royal Cinque Ports on Thursday, on a day where the brutally cold wind blew across the course all day long, with a slight bit of help on the way out, but making the way in extremely challenging!
I managed to sneak a few birdies on the way out, only to hand them all back again on the way in to score +1 72, to be one shot off the winning score of 71. On a day when the wind clearly got the better of most of the field, 2nd place was very pleasing.
That’s just about all from me until after Christmas, thank you to everyone for all your support over the past year, myself, Terry and Tom would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas and look forward to 2019 being a successful golfing year.
