Another week flies by, with what must be one of the driest Januarys we have experienced for a long time! Let’s hope it continues for as long as possible, although looking out of the window, I may have spoken too soon! Enjoy this week's read.

January Stableford Last weekend saw the first stableford of the year take place, and along with it, some fine scoring! Gary Tommy was way out in front with an exceptional 43 points, six points clear of second placed Nathan Hill on 37, with Dave Ritchie a further 2 points back on 35. In division 2, Gary Taylor took top spot with 38, 4 clear of Mike Kowal in second with 34 and Paul Chandler a further point back on 33.
Ladies Stableford The ladies played their stableford competition on Tuesday and in division 1, Kim Wildman won with 27 points with Sue Tester in 2nd place losing out on countback. In division 2, Pat Stubbs score of 29 won by two points over Mari Brooks.
Well played all!

New arrivals… We have just received the demos for the new PING G410 irons. In the G410 iron, PING have taken game-improvement technology and reshaped it, giving the model less offset and a shorter blade length while maintaining MOI to create the most forgiving iron on the market for its size. To generate power, face hinging and a larger flexing zone increase ball speeds for more distance and higher peak trajectories so you're able to hit and hold more greens. Feel and sound are improved with a co-molded cavity badge that damps vibrations. Come and have a look at these great looking clubs. We have different shafts and heads to suit you.

Captain & Pro Challenge A painful match to report this week as Bernie and I took on Gary Westbrook and Paul Taylor. They were last year’s winners of The Captains Prize as they won by the biggest margin, so we were keen not to let history repeat itself! We were on the back foot very quickly as Gary’s 4/3 was enough to take a 1up lead, this was doubled at the third, and tripled at the 4th as Gary was becoming a right pain in the …….! Bernie pulled one back for us at the 5th with a fine 3/2, we then lost the 6th as Gary continued to masquerade of 14 before Paul appeared on the 9th with a 4/3. He then followed that up with a 3/2 at 10 and all of a sudden we were 5 down crossing the road, not the strongest position to mount a charge! Gary then won the 12th to go dormie 6 and an early bath was certainly on the cards as paul hit his tee shot on 13 to 20 feet for nett 0, fortunately, 4 putts later his 5/4 didn’t match my 3 so were given a stay of execution! Not for long though, as 14 handicap Gary hit a drive and a 3 wood on the 14th to 15 feet for 2/1 and narrowly missed his eagle nett albatross, but comfortably secured a 6&4 bashing!

The last thing anyone wants is to purchase a new set of irons, only to struggle massively when they take to the course with their friends a few days later. Sound familiar? Well, with lots of new products about to land in-store for 2019, here is an iron model that we recommend having a custom fitting for... |
The new G410 iron from PING is a brilliant game improvement option that is engineered to offer impressive distance. When you look down at address, you'll notice its clean and refined shape, which will help inspire confidence with every club. But what we love the most is its updated COR-EYE technology, which delivers a higher ball flight and increased ball speeds - essentially more distance!
Hopefully, you have an idea of which iron you'd like to put in your bag, but it's not until you come and visit us for an enjoyable custom fitting that you'll know which iron and shaft combination performs best for you. We're here to help you play better golf. |
