Recent results and matches… A busy week at the club with the inter club matches starting and also the regular club competitions coming thick and fast. We will start with the May Stroke last weekend and there were some great scores in both divisions. The lowest scores of the day were in Division Two as Gary Pestill returned a fine nett 67 to pip Stephen Wild by one shot with nett 68, Mick Joslyn kept up his fine vein of form with a nett 70 for third spot. In Division One, Stuart Williams continues to impress with yet another fine score, his nett 70 beat Richard Truelove on count back, with 6 players on nett 71 hot on their heels. There were mixed fortunes for the club in the inter club matches, first up was Kevin Walder’s team away at Wildernesse, a strong team of Peter Battle, Fred Pett, Jack Stanley, Kev Walder, Stephen Gordon, Paul Myers, Pete Kilford and Alan Pestell took to the course and the match went right to wire with unfortunately Langley coming off second best. Next up was the Gray Cup, captained by Adam Roome, they were drawn away at Dartford. Dave Paterson led the team out with a fine win on the 18th, the next three matches went to the home side, Dave Barnes earned a point for Langley before another point to Dartford. This left LPGC needing to win the last two matches to win on away goals. Terry Morgan destroyed his opponent 6&5 before Chris Day took his match up the 18th hole and a fine up and down sealed a 4-4 draw and an away win! Lastly, this week, Dave Allen’s Blackheath Trophy side were drawn at home to Sidcup. Sean Mcgowan was sent out as the postman and duly delivered a point, match 2 went to the opposition before fine wins from Derek Gardner, Brian Smith, Lee Stone and Roger Conway sealed a 5-3 victory.
