The Addington Pro Am report The Addington Pro Am took place last week, LPGC members Ian Baker, Simon James and Jason French joined me for a very enjoyable day. We had a very steady start and made our way to the turn in 41 points, a strong 2nd nine was needed and we added 44 points on the 2nd nine for an 85 point total to take 2nd spot, which won the boys a Callaway Rogue hybrid each. My level par 69 was one shot shy of the leading score of 68, but a good finish a fun day out was had by all.
The Staysure Pro Am – Foxhills
The day had eventually arrived that my eardrums had been dreading, a day out with John Newton who had won the Staysure qualifier at The Vets Spring meeting.
Foxhills was in fine condition and so was John as we started strongly and were soon -2 after 5 holes after a birdie nett eagle from John, a poor dropped shot at 8 followed by another nett birdie from John saw us -2 at the turn. By this time we knew -9 was leading and only the top 2 teams qualified for the Grand Final at The London Club, so a strong back nine was needed. My birdie at 12, 15 and 18 along with John's at 17 saw us reach -6 but fall a couple of shots short of the -8 qualifying score from the 72 pair field, but a respectable 9th spot finish.
