Good afternoon everyone,
The mild weather seems to be continuing although not without a few showers, the rainfall this month is considerably higher than this time last year, hence the need for the occasional trolley ban this week. Hopefully a few dry sunny days will get things back to normal, in the meantime please check the club website and the club telephone system for up to date course info and don't forget to pop a carry bag in the boot just in case!
Very few results to report as the season draws to a close, but the Ladies section were still out in force on Tuesday despite the trolley ban to play the Stableford Turkey Trot.
In division 1 Lady Captain Lita Landi came out on top with 33 points winning on countback from Jane Underwood, with Kim Wildman in 3rd place with 31 points.
In division 2 Angela Darby was the runaway winner with 34 points 5 clear of Sally Meighan on 29 and Andrea Scott on 26.
Captain/Pro & Vice/Assistant
Both Captain/Pro and Vice/Assistant matches are now underway, all dates until March 2015 have been published. Anyone who fancies the challenge then please put your name down as soon as possible to book your slot.
Vice Captain Peter Kilford and Assistant Nick Stewart started their campaign against Dave Rouse and Mike Sparrow, the challengers were fast out of the blocks and took a commanding 4up lead after 11 holes, Peter and Nick rallied but eventually succumbed to a 2&1 defeat. The following week James Parish and Dave Paterson were the challengers, Peter and Nick obviously felt they had a point to prove and, never letting the challengers get a look in, took the spoils 5&4.
Alan and I started our matches last week as the previous few Sundays had been filled with competitions and matches, this week we took on the formidable pairing of George Mullins and James Thompson. We were off to an early lead with wins at 1 and 3, a birdie from George at 7 managed to keep the score at 2up another birdie at 9 pulled us back to 1up at the turn, a win at 10 and a loss at 11 saw the score remain at 1up, halves at 13 (3's) 14,15 & 16 (4's), Alan then hit 2 great shots on to 17 to halve the hole with James with 4/3's and a 3's at 18 saw us sneak victory by a narrow 1up margin, a good game to win?!
With Christmas just around the corner, we have some boxed sets of sweaters, shirts, socks etc, all at different price points.
Plus don't forget the Titleist and Srixon ball personalisation offer which both companies are offering free of charge for the Christmas period.
