Good afternoon all
It's been course maintenance this week so a slightly quieter week than usual, but with the season just around the corner still plenty to tell you about.

Kent PGA Saint Omer Pro Am
So with it being maintenance week it was an ideal opportunity to get away for a couple days, I was kindly invited by Peter Battle, Bob Hungate and Chris Underwood to play in the Kent PGA Saint Omer Pro Am in Northern France.
Day one was a very cold and wet day, and those of you who have played Saint Omer, it's quite exposed and very hilly! Bob was delighted to secure the services of a buggy to which we all followed suit as oxygen masks and hiking equipment would have otherwise been needed!
We finished day 1 on + 2 which was 10 behind the leading team on -8, I managed +3 with several putting issues to sit 3 behind Ben Blackburn (Kings Hill), after a fine evening meal and several bottles of St Emilion we agreed that a 10 shot deficit could quite easily be pulled back and all was not lost!
On the morning of day 2, Bob had awoken with severe shoulder pain and not wishing to aggravate it was unable to play, we could see the leading team and the rest of the field were visibly relived by this news as round 2 started.
After an encouraging start, we faded on the second 9 and could only manage +6, however I was managing to hold a decent score together until I doubled bogeyed the 12th (our 17th) to shoot +1. It was only when all the scores were returned that a team from Faversham had returned -17 on round 2 to win by 12 shots! I finished 3rd behind Ben Blackburn and Richard Wallis.
All in all a great couple of days, thanks to Peter, Bob and Chris for their company, and a display of shot making I hadn't witnessed for many years!
A rainy Thursday
Thursday Morning was somewhat of a washout, the course was completely empty except for these 3 hardy souls:
Kim, Ros and Sue came into the shop after getting completely soaked, but are now ready for the next downpour after all three purchased ProQuip waterproof rain hats after Kim twisted my arm behind my back for a bulk discount! It's guaranteed not to rain for a while now!!

With Alan away on holiday, Kevin Walder stood in as a past Captain as we took on Dave Rouse and John Pettitt. This turned into a very close game of which neither side took more than a 1up lead for most of the round.
Eventually we stood on the 17th one down, all 3 were receiving shots, but things were not looking good for Kevin and I. Fortunately Kevin holed a great 15ft putt for a 4 nett 3 which saw the colours drain from John's cheeks, and he missed from 10 feet. All four of us hit the green at the last, John 3 putted, Kevin and I narrowly missed birdies and and had 3's conceded. This left Dave with a 15 footer for the win, which he managed to leave some 6 foot short. After much banter, he managed to hole and snatch a half from the jaws of victory!
