Good afternoon all After lots of hype, the golf season officially gets underway with The Masters at Augusta. I for one will be glued to the TV as personally I think this is one of the most exciting events in golf.
Who will win? To be honest, I've absolutely no idea, but I've picked Jordan Spieth, Justin Rose, Henrik Stenson and Tiger Woods (only because he was 50/1 and you never know!).
A great week of sunshine has brought the course on leaps and bounds, and with a little bit more growth the course will be in top condition, the dry weather also means that buggies are now back for hire!
Bank Holiday Roll Up
With the sun shining, the was a a good turn out for the Bank Holiday Roll Up, unfortunately with 3 temporary greens, the event was non qualifying for handicap purposes, the leading scores were as follows:
1st - Nick Bull - 35 points
2nd = Michael Parr - 34 points
2nd = Steve Dale - 34 points
2nd = Shaun McGowan - 34 points
2nd = Declan Lennox - 34 points
Ladies Stableford
The ladies played their stableford this week, once again well supported in bright sunshine. Lesley Compton secured back to back wins with 33 points beating Kim Wildman on countback with Sue Williams in 3rd with 31 points.
In Division 2, Josee Gray was the runaway winner with 34 points followed by Janice Pottage and Julie Allen on 30 points.
Alan and I took on John Cakebread and Andrew Wells last Sunday, these two won the Captains prize for the biggest win last year, so we had a score to settle!
I made a very fortunate 4 at the 1st and Alan's 4/3 on the 3rd saw us take an early 2up lead. John pulled this back to 1up with a 5/4 at 7th and all square through 10 after a 2 by John, and things were looking to go in the challengers favour. We were gifted 11 and then I won 12 which saw us go 2up again, a lead which we held til the 17th when Alan's 4/3 sealed a 3&1 win.
Lunch definitely tasted better this time round!
