Good afternoon
Doesn't time fly when your having fun! May is upon us already and the season is in full flow, plus a little bit of rain has done wonders for the course this week, although it would be nice idea if that cold, drying wind would disappear!
We had a busy weekend last week with 2 competitions being played.
On Saturday it was the Goodhart Cup, a large field participated in one of the 'major' events, and with that wind still making playing conditions tricky, scoring proved tough. That said, a fantastic gross 67 nett 68 from Tom Jordan was just good enough to pip David Peach, nett 69 into second and R Stephenson nett 70 in third.
Well played Tom and congratulations on getting down to +2 handicap.
Sunday was the Mixed Quaiche. Congratulations to Debbie Pestell and John Gray (pictured here) who were the leading pair!
The ladies were out in force again this week on Tuesday, playing in the Lonnnen qualifier with the top 16 players to qualify. With the greens being double cut, this made the scoring really tough, especially if you were above the hole apparently....
The podium finishers were: Mary Forrest nett 76, Esther Mehta nett 77 and Priya Bhatia nett 78.
Alan and I played Captain/Pro last Sunday against Peter O'Regan and Dave Percival. With Peter being in good form after his strong performance the day before in The Goodhart Cup, we were expecting a tough battle. After we crossed the road 5up it became apparent this wasn't to be the case, and a dog license was on the cards, but halves in 3 at 12 and 13 and a first win of day at 14 followed by another at 15 ensured some respectability for the challengers, before they waved the white flag and went down 3&2.
Good fun though boys, the list is up for the rematch......
A strange request
As most of you know I have taken residence in the Bungalow, and after walking the dog one evening, my better half Kelly left her leather boots outside front door, it appears the fox took a fancy to them over night and they disappeared. We retrieved one from Barnfield Wood road but the other is nowhere to be seen. If any of you do come across it, I would be most grateful, alternatively if you see Kelly hopping to the station perhaps you could give her a lift!
