Good afternoon all
A mixed week at the club with Sunshine, showers and gale force winds, so something for everyone.
Congratulations to House Manager Ben Cleeve and his newly wed wife Niamh on their wedding last weekend in Ireland. Here is a picture of the happy couple, (that's Ben's happy face....)
A quiet week on the competition front, but the juniors played The 36 hole Sarah German Trophy and Shield in half term. On a very windy day, 17 players teed up for the morning round and at the halfway stage Zach Collins led with nett 68 followed closely by Dave Lincoln and Ed Soars on nett 69, Connor Byers was the clear leader in the scratch with 74, three ahead of Nathan Brown and five ahead of Callum Abbott.
The afternoon saw the wind drop a little and the scores improve, Zach managed to improve on the morning score with an impressive nett 65 to hold of Dave Lincoln's challenge to win by two shots, with Ed Soars in 3rd place.
In the Shield, Connor repeated his morning score of 74 to hold off a late challenge from Alfie Hickman who shot 71, to win by three shots.
Vice-Captain/Assistant Challenge
Peter and Nick took on the formidable duo of Priya Bhatia and Cheryl Power last Saturday, these two had won the prize last year for inflicting the heaviest defeat on last year's vice and Assistant. Things started well for Pete and Nick, with a win at three to take an early lead, this was quickly pulled back on the fourth and then the girls took the lead on the sixth. A half at seven and the match was all set to go the distance, until.... Priya and Cheryl won 8, 9,10,11,12 and 13 to win by an enormous margin of 7&5!!! What else is there to say!?
Caption Competition
