Good afternoon
I hope you have the sun cream handy as the next few weeks are forecast to be scorchers! Lots to tell you about this week, so make yourselves comfy.
Last Saturday was Captain's Day, so fingers were crossed for a dry day as the forecast wasn't so convincing, a huge field of 160 players supported the day, playing individual stableford, hole in one and nearest the pin prizes on all par 3's, longest and Straightest drive prizes too.
This was followed by a hog roast on completion of play and a BBQ later in the afternoon, as the morning round playing were finishing, those playing the 18th were treated with a DJ Alex playing specially chosen songs relating to their group, this continued for the rest of the afternoon

Midway through the afternoon, things really got lively, when 'The Crystals' the Crystal Palace cheer leaders arrived to greet the afternoon players as they played the 18th!
Of course while all this was going on, there was still a tournament being played, and for most of the day John Newton, Simon Hurry, and Dave Rouse were tied on 38 points.
They were later joined by Fred Foster and a playoff was looking likely, that was until Nigel Barber came in and destroyed the field with a fantastic 43 points to win by five!
We then had a playoff for second place which was won by Simon Hurry as he calmly slotted a six foot putt for par. 3third place was decided on countback which went to John Newton.

The club hosted Invitation day on Saturday 6th June, a shotgun start with 22 teams playing in teams of four, with the best two stableford scores to count on each hole.
The sun shone which made for a great days golf, but the wind was still making scoring very tricky, leading the way with 81 points was Rob Norris and his three guests from Sundridge Park pictured below with Club Captain Alan Pestell.
Congratulations to Jack O'Hare! Whilst playing Callum Abbott in The Junior Scratch Matchplay, Jack achieved his first albatross on the 14th with a drive and a 6 iron, he then went on to win the match 3&2 Caption Competition Results
I had lots of answers sent in for this one, such as: Langley's new overflow car park gets off to a rocky start... Stevie Wonder plays Langley... I said fore right not floor it! Is that a one or two shot penalty?... Bloody Sat Nav...When he said Lets ditch the buggy and walk I didn't think literally!...
But this week's winner from David Brooks is If we hide here, the Vice Captain will never hit us with his drive!...
I think that's all for this week, apologies for anything that I've missed.....
The Showman (cheers Alan!)
