Good Afternoon All
A slightly damp week at LPGC this week, everyone keeps saying we need it, personally I'd rather it came at night!! We are fast approaching the end of August and the summer seems to have flown by, hopefully we can still get a few good golfing months in before winter approaches!
Last weekend saw The Presidents Platter and Scratch Bowl played, the forecast was not particularly inviting, but that said, the scoring was exceptional.
After the morning round, Simon Mason and Paul Sawyers led in the way in the Platter with after a fine nett 66, with Max Jordan regaining some form closely behind them with nett 67, in the Scratch Bowl Tom and Max were both clear leaders and tied with Gross 68, 4 clear of Mark Haffenden, the afternoon saw Max go one better to shoot 67 nett 66 for nett 133 to win the Platter by 6 clear shots from brother Tom 139 and Dean White and Steve Dale 140.
Tom and Max tied the scratch bowl with identical scores of 68 + 67 135 -3, 11 shots clear of 3rd placed Mark Haffenden, Tom was the eventual winner on countback.
The Ladies played in The Ladies Presidents Platter on a rain soaked Tuesday, and keeping up her form of recent months saw Priya Bhatia take top spot with nett 71, 6 shots clear of second placed Lesley Compton, Kim Wildman, and Evelyn Collington.
LPGC Vets played their last game of the season at home against Royal Blackheath, with the league already won it was a bit like England v Australia with the Ashes already in the bag, however complacency wasn't on the menu, wins from Gordon Hayward/John Newton, Bill Mewis/Ken Evans, Joe Rowlinson/Ian Baker, and John Davison/David Peach saw the home side win 4 matches to 2, over all the team have P 10 W7 D2 L1 and now play in the Kent Final at Boughton on 1st October.
Kent Foursomes
Our semi-final match of the Kent Foursomes was played away last Saturday against Lamberhurst, the Team of George Mullins, Mark Haffenden, Tom and Max Jordan were selected to represent the club. Both matches were comfortable from the start with George and Mark winning their game 5up and Max and Tom winning 4 up, we are now through to the final against Sittingbourne with will be played at Princes on Saturday 5th September.
This coming Sunday the scratch team play the next round of the Perman Shield, it is at home against Cherry Lodge, foursome in the morning and singles in the afternoon, supporters are most welcome.
