Good afternoon all,

A slightly damp week…… fortunately the ideal weather after the course maintenance week. I had the pleasure of James Parrish, James Thompson and Darren Field in the London Club Pro Am on monsoon Wednesday, a shotgun start on The Heritage course. We were drawn on the 13th and were off to a good start until the weather turned for the worse, we all found out our waterproofs were no longer waterproof ! As a team we managed 73 points for 15th place, I managed 71(-1) for a tie for 3rd place.

 


Men's Section:

Last Sunday 13th September, the scratch team went to Dartford GC to challenge them in the semi-finals of the Perman Shield. After the morning foursome matches it ended 2-2, a good start from Langley away from home. The afternoon singles were looking good being up in a handful of matches at the turn, unfortunately for the boys, they couldn't hold on to it, and some great golf from Dartford saw them pull through 6.5 - 5.5. Well done to Langley for reaching the semi-final and credit to the captain Alan Fitzgerald for all his hard work.


  

On Wednesday 16th September, the Staff of LPGC and the Committee from LPGC went head to head in an 11 hole 4BB contest. The Staff team was made out of Paul Sherman, Nicky Stewart, Simon Naylor, Bert Leonardi, Chris Toop and Wayne. The committee team fielded an extremely strong side which consisted of David Lennox, Phillip Littlewood, Gordon Mackie, Paul Connell, Barry Nicholson and Andy Craig. Paul and Wayne took on David and Gordon, and lost on the last after David Lennox holed several miles of putts and Gordon go up and down from several outrageous positions (not that we were bitter!) to give the committee team a 1 point lead. In the 2nd group full of lefties, Nick and Bert took on Barry and Andy, another close match where a birdie on 11 from nick managed to scrape a half. In the final match Simon and Chris come up against Paul and Phillip who were just too good on the day and won 6&5. The final score was 2.5 - 0.5 to the committee and a good afternoon was had all round, followed by a very enjoyable curry and a couple of beers.

Ladies section:

Tuesday 15th September the ladies played the September stableford/Stevenson Platter. Well done to all that took part. These were the results:

3rd: Mrs Angela Darby 31 Points

Division 2
1st: Mrs Maddie Simmons 32 Points
2nd: Mrs Linda Foulstone 30 Points
